I am not a fan of the phrase "because we've always done it that way." In fact, I believe it's a particularly dangerous mindset that not only stunts innovation but can actually hasten decline as systems warp and rot from the inside out.
No Cringe for Cheerleaders
…As we said our goodbyes and made plans to stay in touch, I picked up on the term “cheerleader” being used often to describe my support. It was meant in a positive way and always with gratitude but I couldn’t help but find the term a bit cringy. It conjures up the image of a vapid, unserious, nonessential accessory. Cheerleaders are quite literally on the sidelines, not involved in the game, they’re not making things happen. Or are they….?
Upside Down Revolution
The pattern of popular uprisings throughout history has been one in which the masses overthrow the ruling system/government/monarchy/etc. Common people are pushed to the point where they can’t take it anymore and find strength in numbers to foment change. What if that pattern is being turned on its head now?

Why do people envy the rich? Why do they believe that money — gobs of it — will make them happy? It’s a story as old as time, and yet these stories so often uncover the shallowness, the superficiality of the lives of the rich and famous. The scandal bred of boredom, or more likely, of some inexorable search for meaning, for validation, acknowledgement, acceptance. None of this can money buy.
